  Wangbuliu is the mature seed of Vaccaria segetalis (Neck.) Garcke, a plant of the Caryophyllaceae family. It is produced all over the country, mainly in Jiangsu, Hebei, Shandong, Liaoning, Heilongjiang and other places. The ones produced in Xingtai, Hebei are of high quality. Mostly wild, but also cultivated. In summer, when the fruit is ripe and the peel has not yet cracked, the plants are harvested, sun-dried, seeds are laid, impurities are removed, and the fruit is dried and used raw or stir-fried.

  【application】

  1. Blood stasis, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, and dystocia. This product is good at unblocking blood vessels, activating blood circulation and promoting menstruation, and can be used for irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea and amenorrhea. It is often used with Angelica sinensis, Chuanxiong, Cyperus rotundus, safflower and other medicinal purposes. To treat women with dystocia or fetal death, it can be used together with Physalis physalis, Wulingzhi, Liujinu and other medicines, such as Shengjin Powder ("Puji Prescription").

  2. Postpartum lactation is not enough, and breast cancer is swollen and painful. This product returns to the liver and stomach meridians, travels through the blood, circulates without leaving behind, circulates the blood vessels, and unblocks the milk. It is a commonly used product to treat postpartum lactation deficiency. It is often used with pangolin, such as Yongquan Powder ("Health Treasure Book"); if used with astragalus, angelica or angelica, and pig's trotters, it can treat postpartum deficiency of qi and blood and scarce milk.   【Modern Research】

  1. Chemical composition: Contains four types of abrasaponins A, B, C, and D; it also contains flavonoid glycosides, such as abrasaponin, isosasaponin; and it also contains calcium and magnesium phytates, phospholipids, soybeans, etc.

  2. Pharmacological effects: The water decoction has anti-implantation and anti-early pregnancy effects in mice, has an exciting effect on the uterus, and can promote milk secretion. The aqueous extract and extract of Wangbuliuxing have anti-tumor effects.

  3. Clinical study: Use 15g of Wangbuliuxing and 25g of Pangolin to treat agalactiasis, supplemented by stewed pig trotters, and eat meat and drink soup every night before going to bed. For patients with blood deficiency, take Siwu Decoction. Five cases of agalactia were treated, and all achieved varying degrees of breast reduction effects (Barefoot Doctor Journal, 1975, (8): 26). A total of 28 patients with acute mastitis were treated with 50g of Dandelion and 25g of Ambroxanthera sinensis decoction in water. The results showed that all patients improved significantly after taking 1 dose, and recovered after 2-3 doses. There was no case of suppuration (Jiangxi Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1986, (2): 46). 95 cases of urinary tract stones were treated with Erzi Huayu Paishi Decoction (Wangbuliuxing, Jiuzi, Sichuan Achyranthes Root, Raw Gallus gallinae, etc.), 65 cases were cured, 19 cases were effective, 11 cases were ineffective, and the total effective rate was 88.4% (Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1986, 27(11): 36).

  4. Adverse reactions: It has been reported that one case of photosensitivity dermatitis was caused by oral administration of Wangbuliuxing decoction. The clinical manifestation was obvious edema dermatitis on the face, eyes and hands caused by exposure to sunlight, which recovered after symptomatic treatment.
