How to treat inflammation of glans penis

Inflammation of the glans can be treated through daily cleaning, topical drugs, oral drugs, physical therapy, surgical treatment, etc. Balanitis is usually caused by bacterial infection, fungal infection, allergic reaction, traumatic stimulation, excessive foreskin and other reasons.

1. Daily cleaning

Keeping the glans area clean and dry can help relieve inflammation. Wash the glans and the inside of the foreskin with warm water every day and avoid using irritating lotions. People with allergies can take antihistamines such as loratadine tablets and cetirizine tablets. 4. Physical therapy

Those with chronic balanitis or recurring attacks can use physical treatments such as ultraviolet irradiation and infrared physiotherapy. Improve local blood circulation through photothermal effect, enhance tissue repair ability, and inhibit the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. Treatment needs to be carried out in a professional medical institution and lasts for 10-15 minutes each time. The course of treatment is determined according to the condition. During treatment, it is still necessary to use medications and observe skin reactions.

5. Surgical treatment

For recurrent balanitis caused by excessive foreskin or phimosis, circumcision is recommended. Excessive foreskin is surgically removed to reduce dirt accumulation and bacterial growth. After surgery, the wound needs to be kept clean and dry, and the dressing must be disinfected and changed regularly. Avoid sexual life and strenuous exercise within 1 month after surgery. Patients with urethral meatus stricture may need to undergo urethroplasty at the same time.

Patients with balanitis should avoid spicy and irritating foods and drink more water to promote metabolism. Choose loose, breathable cotton underwear and change and wash them daily. Sexual intercourse is prohibited during treatment to prevent cross-infection. Elderly people with foreskin need to wash their foreskin every day after recovery.
