The increase in leucorrhea after IUD can be improved by keeping the perineum clean, avoiding excessive cleaning, observing the characteristics of secretions, regularly reviewing the position of the IUD, and seeking medical treatment when necessary. Increased leucorrhea after IUD insertion may be related to factors such as irritation of the IUD, vaginitis, cervicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and displacement of the IUD.
1. Keep the perineum clean
Wash your vulva with warm water 1-2 times a day and avoid using alkaline lotions or frequent vaginal washing. Choose breathable cotton underwear and change it daily. If there is a lot of secretion, you can use unscented pads, but they need to be changed every 2-3 hours. Keep the perineum dry after cleaning to avoid a moist environment that can breed bacteria.
2. Avoid excessive cleaning
It is forbidden to use vaginal irrigators or medicated lotions to irrigate the vagina to avoid destroying the normal flora balance. When cleaning, just wipe the vulva area gently and use gentle movements. Excessive cleaning may aggravate abnormal secretions and even induce secondary infection.
3. Observe the characteristics of secretions
Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or transparent and have no strong odor. If yellow or green discharge occurs, or is accompanied by itching, burning sensation, or fishy smell, it may indicate bacterial vaginosis, and metronidazole vaginal effervescent tablets need to be used. ; Tofu-like leucorrhea accompanied by vulvar itching may be candida infection, and clotrimazole vaginal tablets can be used ; Gray-white discharge with a foul odor needs to rule out trichomonas vaginitis, and oral tinidazole tablets are recommended.
4. Regularly review the birth control ring
Ultrasound examination of the ring position is required 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after the ring is inserted. If the ring body moves downward, it may stimulate the cervix and cause increased secretions. If the ring position is found to be abnormal during inspection, it is necessary to consider replacing the ring type or removing it. During the review, a gynecological examination should also be performed to rule out local lesions such as cervical erosion and cervical polyps.
5. Seek medical treatment when necessary
If you have purulent leucorrhea, post-coital bleeding, or lower abdominal pain that lasts for more than two weeks, you need to check for pelvic inflammatory disease. For acute infections, levofloxacin tablets combined with metronidazole tablets can be used as directed by the doctor, and for chronic inflammation, Fuke Qianjin Tablets can be used for treatment. If there is repeated infection or the ring is incarcerated, surgical removal of the ring and anti-infective treatment are required.
Mild increase in leucorrhea is a common phenomenon within 3-6 months after IUD insertion. It is recommended to avoid spicy and irritating foods and supplement appropriate amounts of yogurt containing lactic acid bacteria to maintain the vaginal microecology. Kegel exercises can be done daily to enhance pelvic floor muscle tone and reduce pelvic congestion. If you develop fever, severe abdominal pain or abnormal bleeding, seek medical attention immediately. Cervical TCT and HPV screening are required every year to rule out abnormal secretions caused by other gynecological diseases.
