Cervical cancer may metastasize to the neck. Lymph node metastasis may occur in late-stage cervical cancer. Common metastasis sites include supraclavicular lymph nodes, cervical lymph nodes, etc.

Cervical cancer mainly spreads through lymphatic metastasis. Tumor cells can metastasize upward along the paracervical lymphatic vessels to the pelvic lymph nodes, and then spread to the para-aortic lymph nodes. When the tumor progresses to an advanced stage, cancer cells may retrogradely metastasize to the supraclavicular lymph nodes through the thoracic duct and further spread to the cervical lymph node area. This type of metastasis usually manifests as painless, hard-textured enlarged lymph nodes. In the early stage, there may be only unilateral lymph node enlargement, and in the later stage, the lymph nodes may fuse into a group and become fixed. Lymphatic metastasis indicates a later stage of the disease and requires lymph node biopsy or PET-CT for a clear diagnosis.

The probability of hematogenous metastasis of cervical cancer to the neck is low. In rare cases, cancer cells can metastasize to soft tissues or bones of the neck through blood circulation, forming solitary metastases. This type of metastasis is often accompanied by metastasis to other distant organs, and may clinically manifest as a rapid increase in neck mass accompanied by pain. Imaging examination can reveal bone destruction or soft tissue occupancy, and pathological biopsy can identify the source of metastasis.

It is recommended that patients diagnosed with cervical cancer undergo regular neck ultrasound or enhanced CT examinations and seek medical attention promptly if abnormal lymph nodes are found. For patients who have metastasized, the treatment plan needs to be radiotherapy, chemotherapy or targeted therapy based on the extent of metastasis. It is necessary to maintain balanced nutrition in daily life, exercise moderately to enhance immunity, and avoid compressing or rubbing the lump area on the neck.
