Can wound care cream reduce scars

This matter really cannot be one-size-fits-all. The vast majority of ordinary wound care creams used daily have no scar lightening effect at all. Only medical products that contain specific active ingredients and are used at the right scar stage can assist in lightening scars.

If you expect it to lighten scars, it is similar to applying ordinary moisturizing cream to your face to lighten freckles. Of course, not all ointments with wound care names are useless. Many silicone wound care ointments with mechanical brands on the market are clinically recommended early intervention products for scars. Used during the 3-6 months of scar growth after the scabs have just fallen off, it can indeed suppress the growth trend and make the final scars flatter and lighter in color. I once saw a little boy whose chin fell and needed two stitches. His parents followed the doctor's advice and applied silicone cream twice a day from the time the scab fell off, and paid attention to sun protection. They persisted for four months. In the end, the scar was so light that it was not noticeable unless you got close. The effect was indeed much better than applying nothing at all.

Many people also say that their scars have faded with ordinary care creams containing centella asiatica and vitamin E. This situation is mostly due to a "coincidence": either they are very shallow scratches that only leave epidermal pigment marks, which can be eliminated by metabolism within two or three months, and applying moisturizing cream speeds up epidermal metabolism; If you really have a proliferative constitution and the wound is deep into the dermis, even half a dime of ordinary care cream will be useless.

I usually tell people who deal with wounds, if you are really afraid of leaving scars, don’t buy all kinds of care creams. First, distinguish the stages: debridement of wounds that have not yet healed to prevent infection is the first step to prevent scars; red and hard proliferative scars that have just fallen off the scabs , choose silicone care cream of regular mechanical size and apply it consistently, it is really useful; if the scar has been growing for a year or two, feels flat and the color has stabilized, don’t waste that money, any care cream is useless, it is more reliable to go directly to the medical beauty matrix.
