The main differences between laparoscopy and hysteroscopy are the examination site, operation method and applicable diseases. Laparoscopy is used for abdominal and pelvic examination and requires abdominal puncture ; Hysteroscopy is used to examine the uterine cavity and is performed through the natural vaginal passage.
Laparoscopy inserts lenses and instruments through small abdominal incisions to observe abdominal organs such as the liver, gallbladder, intestines, and female pelvic structures. It is suitable for operations such as cholecystectomy and ovarian cyst dissection. Its advantage is that it has a wide field of view and can handle complex lesions, but it requires general anesthesia and may cause abdominal distension, shoulder radiating pain and other discomforts after surgery.
The hysteroscope enters the uterine cavity directly through the cervix without the need for surface incisions. It is mainly used for intrauterine operations such as endometrial polyp removal and separation of intrauterine adhesions. This technique is less invasive, usually uses local anesthesia, and allows for quick recovery, but the operating space is limited and can only deal with lesions within the uterine cavity. You may experience a small amount of vaginal bleeding or mild abdominal pain after the test.
Both examinations require fasting before surgery and rest after surgery. Strenuous exercise should be avoided after laparoscopy to prevent increased intra-abdominal pressure, and the perineum should be kept clean after hysteroscopy. The specific examination method needs to be selected by the doctor according to the condition. If you have persistent fever, severe abdominal pain or abnormal bleeding, you should seek medical treatment in time.
