Vaginitis in children can be treated through daily care, topical drugs, oral drugs, etc. It is usually caused by poor hygiene, allergic stimulation, bacterial infection, fungal infection, pinworm infection and other reasons. It is recommended that parents take their children to see a doctor promptly and receive standardized treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
1. Daily care
Keeping the perineum clean is a basic measure. Wash the vulva with warm water every day and avoid using soap or shower gel. Choose pure cotton breathable underwear and change it every day. After washing, expose it to the sun. Wipe from front to back after using the toilet to prevent intestinal bacterial contamination. Parents should pay attention to whether their children scratch the vulva to avoid repeated infections.
2. External use drugs
For bacterial vaginosis, erythromycin ointment or mupirocin ointment can be applied topically as directed by your doctor. Fungal infections require clotrimazole cream or miconazole nitrate cream. Clean the affected area before use and avoid mixing with other ointments. Parents should observe whether their children have allergic reactions such as skin redness and discontinue use if necessary.
3. Oral medications
Severe bacterial infections can be treated with oral cefaclor dry suspension or amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium granules. Fungal vaginitis requires fluconazole granules. Pinworm infection requires the use of albendazole granules to deworm. All oral medications need to be dosed based on body weight, and parents are not allowed to adjust the medication regimen on their own.
4. Allergy management
For contact allergies, suspected allergens need to be stopped, such as fragrance-containing wet wipes and inferior diapers. Desonide cream can be used short-term to relieve itching. It is recommended to choose baby-specific laundry detergent without fluorescent agents to wash clothes. Children with repeated allergies need to undergo allergen testing to avoid contact with allergenic substances.
5. Cause treatment
People with diabetes need to control blood sugar, and those with low immune function need to strengthen their physical fitness. The whole family of children with pinworm infection needs to be dewormed at the same time and their bed sheets and clothing should be thoroughly disinfected. Stubborn fungal infections need to be investigated for misuse of antibiotics. Avoid swimming and bathing during treatment to prevent cross-infection.
During treatment, you should avoid eating spicy foods and drink more water to promote metabolism. Choose loose-fitting clothing to reduce friction, and wear cotton gloves at night to prevent scratching. After recovery, you still need to maintain good hygiene habits and conduct regular check-ups. If symptoms such as smelly secretions, crying when urinating, etc. worsen, parents must take their children for follow-up consultation immediately. Pay attention to cultivating children's correct cleaning habits every day. Kindergarten children need to use separate cleaning utensils.
